For the German Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief / TU Braunschweig:
In cooperation with the Institute of Psychology and the Psychology of Sociotechnical Systems at Technische Universität Braunschweig, we are exploring the avenues for civil protection to be better prepared for a world where multiple crises and disasters increasingly occur simultaneously. The project is funded by the German Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance.
It analyses existing methods and applications of strategic foresight and, based on these insights, develops a concept for integrating foresight into civil protection and civil defense. The aim is to provide practitioners with a solid foundation for orientation and decision-making, ultimately contributing to a more resilient and future-ready civil protection system in Germany.
As part of our contribution, we are analysing existing foresight approaches in international security contexts, across countries and global organisations, to identify relevant case studies for civil protection in Germany and better understand the success factors for implementing foresight effectively.
The project is ongoing. Find the project website here (in German).
