For the German Federal Chancellery:
We, specifically Cornelia Daheim and Eckhard Störmer from our team, contributed to a German-language volume published by the German Federal Chancellery on societal transformation and how it can be meaningfully advanced. The publication addresses the complexity of large-scale transformation projects and the tensions between the demands they impose and the need to foster confidence and a positive outlook. Featuring contributions from over 20 experts across various disciplines, the volume explores a wide range of perspectives on transformation, including mindsets and attitudes towards change, the role of digitalisation and AI in enabling transformation processes, the importance of anticipatory policy-making, and more.
In their chapter, Cornelia and Eckhard focus on the role of foresight in advancing transformation. They outline current trends and identify success factors for effective foresight practice, including a stronger integration into political decision-making and the public sector, a greater focus on systemic solutions, a broader participation beyond traditional expert circles, particularly including marginalised groups, and embracing multiple and diverse positive future visions, reflecting a pluralistic approach to desirable futures.
