For STEPI:
This study encompassed an international survey of experts and in-depth interviews. It was financed by the South Korean research institute STEPI. The project shows how fundamentally foresight approaches can (and will) change and provides project examples of those approaches that are increasingly gaining in importance.
The results are published in an article about emerging practices in foresight and their use in STI (Science, Technology, Innovation) policy in the journal “STI Policy Review”. The article highlights four clusters of increasingly important foresight approaches:
- the integrated qualitative-quantitative approach,
- IT-based and automated foresight,
- experiential foresight (e.g. as in future artefacts, new forms of communication and interaction such as visualization and gaming),
- as well as open or crowd-based approaches.
